More or Less
I had a bag of candy
To share with my sister, Tess.
I counted it all out equally,
Well, more or less.
I must confess I gave her less
And gave me a little bit more.
But Tess guessed that she got less
And she got a little bit sore.
I heard her roar, candy hit the floor.
And it made quite a mess.
Back from the store, Mom opened the door,
And in walked our dog, Bess.
Bess saw that mess, as you may guess,
She ate the candy off the floor.
When Bess was done, we both had none.
But now we’re wiser than before.
Cowboy
I’m a cowboy.
What do you think about that?
I have cowboy jeans, a cowboy shirt
And a fancy cowboy hat.
I keep my cowboy boots real clean
When I wipe them on the mat.
I have a good old cowboy dog,
His name is Cowdog Pat.
I get together with my cowboy friends,
We hang around and chat.
Just wish I had a cowboy horse,
‘Cause I can’t saddle up my cat.
Turn Back
I was walking near the railroad track,
The wind said to me, “Turn back.”
I kept on going to a spooky shack.
It was painted orange and black.
I knocked and I heard, “Turn back.”
I opened up the door, just a crack.
I peeked in. There was something on the rack
Two eyes glowed inside a gunny sack.
The sounds around went whack, whack, whack.
Now I’m not scared, but I’m turning back.
Rice
I helped with dinner by making some rice.
I poured it in a pan with water and spice.
There wasn’t quite enough, so I doubled it. Twice.
I put the pan in the oven then I shut the door.
When I came back later, rice covered the floor.
It made quite a mess so take my advice,
When it’s time for dinner, let your mom make the rice.
Kitchen Sink
Last night I went to bed, then I needed a drink.
I hopped on over to the kitchen sink.
I drank some water, then my eyes began to blink,
So I went back to bed. I heard plink, plink, plink.
The water was dripping in the kitchen sink.
It kept me awake. I didn’t sleep a wink.
Next morning my eyes were puffy and pink.
I was so tired that I couldn’t think.
Tonight when I go to bed, if I should need a drink,
I won’t be getting one from the kitchen sink.
