Alarm Clock Friends
by Guy Belleranti

Cow looked at the setting sun. Then she looked at Rooster. "Rooster, will you please wake me tomorrow just as the sun comes up? I wouldn't want to miss a tasty breakfast of green grass covered with cool morning dew."
Rooster fluttered his feathers. "Sure, Cow" he said. "After all, you are my friend."
Rooster peeked into a log where Bat was just opening his eyes. "Howdy, Bat," said Rooster.
"Will you please wake me tomorrow just before the sun comes up? I wouldn't want to miss a pretty morning sunrise."
Bat squeaked out a yawn. "Sure, Rooster" he said. "After all, you are my friend."
Bat flew out of the log to where Pig lay smiling in the mud. "Hello, Pig," said Bat. "Will you please wake me tomorrow just before the sun goes down? I'm wouldn't want to miss meeting my bat buddies under the town streetlights for a tasty bug dinner."
Pig wagged her curly tail. "Sure, Bat" she said. "After all, you are my friend."
Pig rose from the mud and plodded over to Cow. "Hi, Cow," said Pig. "Will you please wake me tomorrow just after the sun comes up? I wouldn't want to miss the chance for an early morning mud bath."
Cow blinked her big eyes. Then she saw Bat and Rooster nearby smiling at her. "Sure, Pig," she said. "After all, you are my friend."
